This was my first time at Cape Perpetua Campground. Friends had recommended seeing the giant spruce at the end of the campground.
I was all set up and it was only 4 p.m., So I had plenty of time to get to Heceta lighthouse before sunset.
But after my hike, I drove up to the lookout at the Cape and was blown away by the views and creamy pastels created in the golden hour.
My campsite seemed smaller than some of the others and didn't have a view of the path to the creek. If I stayed here again I would do some research and book a larger site.
This place is beyond gorgeous and there are so many great hikes in the area. The campground is well thought out, there are 3 sets of restrooms, trash cans throughout and water spickets. Some of the sites are geared only for tents. There are no electric hookups, but some of the sites are big enough for RVs.
This campground is disappointing, it's basically a series of parking spots right on the road with picnic tables. I spent $70+ to reserve two nights in site 4. The tent pad is on the road, there are two parking spots that make it look like day use. What was telling is a janky sign that says No Day Use, Camping Only - it was falling apart. I can see how people would think otherwise. I only reserved because I knew I would be arriving late and didn't want to hunt for a new spot if no FCFS options were available. What a waste of money. I did not stay. I would never stay here again.
This is a decent campground, in an awesome location. Some of the sites are pretty close together. This used to be first-come, first-serve only, but it is now reservable at reserveamerica.com. There are many trails to hike, including the St Perpetua trail to the top of the Cape, starting from the campground. It's the best view on the Oregon Coast. (Note, you can drive up to the top, as well.) Don't miss the tide pools at low tide. Trail starts at the Visitor Center, just a short walk up from the campground near the entrance.
Just tired, pot holes, but it's in a gorgeous valley, spots are not very flat but it would be lovely to tent camp in spot #14, #10, and two spots together are 12, 13 we spent 1 night in 28, a little marshy but lots of flowers, ferns, beautiful trees!
Bathroom is clean.
It's a great place but I think they will need to put a plug to charge the phones and a showering 🚿 and fix the restroom 🚻 because two of them were unavailable to used. …
This campground is so beautiful and very well maintained. We stayed at campsite 5 and it was perfect for a 4 person tent. It backs up to a little creek that was so relaxing to listen to, especially at night. The bathrooms were very clean (no showering facility), there were garbage receptacles within easy walking distance all over the camp ground, as well as fresh water faucets in between every other site. There are a couple hiking trails within walking distance of the campsite and they boast stunning views! Devils Churn is 2 minutes down the road and Yachats is about a 15 minute drive around the hill. The only thing that was a little rough is that we had no cell service on site (Verizon) and had to drive into Yachats to check email and all of that. Not that big of a deal since we were on vacation, however if you are a person who needs consistent coverage, I would check and see what other people with your service providers experience was. All and all we had an awesome experience and will be back to stay again!
This was a quiet campground. Dog friendly. I only had campsite 24 to choose from, as it was a last minute finding. The spot was okay. Not the best seclusion and your neighbor's fire ring was behind your parking stall. Camp 15 and 19 looked like great secluded sites. A lot of other sites were packed together for quantity over quality. A stream runs behind the majority of spots though, which is nice. Overall, a clean camp with clean restrooms with flush toilets. Close to Thor's Well and Devil's Churn Beach. For the beach, you have to walk along the highway or drive a hundred yards. Very nice beach though. I would camp here again.
